Tuesday, Day 129 - May 15 - Cruising the Pacific Ocean

Ahh, a beautiful morning! We set the clock back another hour last night so have an extra hour of sleep. Opening the curtains we are greeted with a beautiful day...bright blue cloudless sky and wonderfully calm seas! We have almost forgotten where was such a thing!

It is a normal sea day routine for us...first breakfast; there are a lot more people eating breakfast in the dining room this segment. Dick goes to listen to Terry talk about “The Spaniards Who Went Native - The Conquest of the Mayans” and Warne’s talk, “North Korea - Surprises Abound.”  Sarah is doing something new today. She brings Color Me Calm and sketching material along with the Quilling supplies. Carolyn finishes up the last project and begins another. Though she may take her new colored pencils she got for the trip next time. They are the kind that blend like pastels and she wants to try them out.

All morning we see land to the East, both islands and mainland and there are lots of birds flying around the ship and using the bow as a resting spot. At noon the Captain tells us we are located at 7 degrees N-83 degrees W. There is 8,000 feet of water below the keel. The temperature is 82 degrees with 78% humidity.  Wave height is 3 to 4 feet and the wind is at 8 knots. Unfortunately he has some bad news, even though we filled out Nicaraguan landing forms yesterday, we will not be docking in Corinth due to the civil unrest. It will become a sea day. Bummer.

The afternoon passes quietly. Dick goes up for the Pool Deck lunch - Big Pan Paella and plays his computer games.  Carolyn has room service and gets caught up on pictures and the blog .
There is the SS Top Tier pre-dinner Party tonight, but Clive is also playing in the Navigator Lounge so we go listen to him, then head to Prime 7. We have another of those little glitches in that when they bring the little bites of fudge there is only two kinds, neither of which we like. For over four months now they have also had a white chocolate fudge piece on the plate also. Carolyn asks about and is given a song and dance about being out of white chocolate and looking for a new source...OK no big deal, they have run out of things before.

Then after we are finished with our key lime pie and tea and just leaving, the waiter brings out a plate with two pieces of the white chocolate fudge on it! Hummmm, guess they found a magic source in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Costa Rica and whipped some up real fast! We tell the waiter, thanks, but no thanks, we are finished eating. The Head Waiter comes over and is all defensive about how the Head Chef is just tying to accommodate our request...really...why wasn’t it on the original plate and why all the excuses? Things are just off. Time to go to bed, we are tired.
