Friday, Day 111 -  Apr 27 - Cruising the Atlantic Ocean

Today is the last sea day before we are officially in Brazil where wine, liquor and any thing from the shops in has a  25% tax is added to the coat. Passages has been reminding us of this for several days now.

The day is nice and the sea is fairly calm. We get up and start our usual routine with breakfast. Dick goes to Terry’s lecture on Heroes of the Sea. It is a mixture of songs and stories for the likes of Cook and Bligh. Carolyn goes to quilling for the last time this segment. We can make any of the cards we want again. We then take part in the judging of the doors. There aren’t as many entries this time, but there are several that are really creative. Carolyn goes around and takes pictures and then each of us votes on the three best.
Dick skips lunch, but Carolyn goes to the Compass rose for the leek and cheese quiche. It is back on the menu again and is one of her favorite lunch dishes. The nice light restaurant style lunches are going to be sorely missed by Carolyn.

Julie has her last card making class of the trip. She is leaving in Rio to go back to Spain to help her dad celebrate his 90th birthday. It has been fun learning to make these new styles of cards.

Tonight is the Captains Farewell reception with the Krew Kappers program. The crew works hard on putting this together, but we went to the first segments show and they don’t change much so we pass in favor of listening to Clive and cocktails in the Navigator Lounge before dinner.  Dinner is a little filet for Carolyn and a rib eye for Dick. The steaks in the Compass Rose have been wonderful...perfect size and cooked to perfection. For some reason we are very tired so we climb in bed and read ourselves to sleep. At some point the book falls out of Carolyn's hand and wakes her up enough to turn off the light!
