Thursday, Day 124 - May 10 - Cruising the Caribbean Sea

Well after nearly 12 hours of sleep we wake to some what calmer seas. It is a hazy day, but at least the sea is calmer!

We do our normal routine of breakfast then lectures and quilling. Terry’s talk is “Cartagena, Gibraltar, Grog, Jenkin’s Ear, Victory and Defeat in the Caribbean” at 10. He is always good and Dick loves the way he can interweave various, seemingly unrelated points in history and make it all fit together. Dick skips the 11 AM talk by Rob Warne on “Costa Rica and Panama -  Central American Successes.”  Warne is a career diplomat and most of his talks are from that point of view. The topics are good, it is just his delivery style that is lacking. Sarah teaches us how to make people out of our circles. It takes lots of little circles, but turns out well.

At the noon report the Captain tells us we are at 11 degrees N and 65  degrees W. We have moderate waves 8 feet in height with winds at 17 knots. The temperature is 85 degrees and 61% humidity. The sea is 6,000 feet deep. The sea still looks choppy, but the ship is not moving like it was which is good.

Carolyn goes to lunch, but Dick passes. We are lazy this afternoon with naps and reading. There is plenty going on around the ship with the board games in the dining room, bridge in the card rooms, gambling in the casino, outside games and activities on the open deck and needlepoint and tea up in the Galileo, but a nice nap on a slightly rocking ship is much more appealing to us.

The Seven Seas Society Party for returning guests is at 6 PM. Again, we skip it. This status party just doesn’t appeal to us. Instead we go to the Navigator Lounge for our cocktail and listen to Clive play and then go on to dinner before the big party lets out.

We want to get some pictures of some of our favorite people who have made our cruise memorable, before everyone starts doing it...a sure sign the fun is drawing to an end! We have been blessed this cruise with outstanding service provided by these great people!
 Shambu and Vishnu, absolutely wonderful
Nixon, our Head Sommelier
 Mario, another great waiter
Jessica, our delightful wine stuard
Teguh, one of our great Head Waiters

After a pleasant dinner we head back to the suite to read for a while before turning out the lights.
