Friday, Day 118 -  May 4 - Cruising Brazilian Coast

The room stays cool all night and we sleep well. Today is the first of three sea days that will take us back across the Equator for the last time. We head to breakfast at the usual time. Then Dick heads to his lectures and Carolyn goes to Quilling where she finishes one card and starts another in kind of a Dutch design. Dick goes to Terry’s talk on Adrift in the Atlantic - The Amazing Story of Poon Lin and Other Survivor Stories. He doesn’t stay for Rob Warne’s Lecture on South America - A Vast Rich Continent. The intro of his talk doesn’t appeal.

The Captains noon report has us a 3 degrees S and 38 degrees W. The ocean is 7,000 feet deep. We have small wavelets at 5ft and wind at 15 knots. It is overcast and 86 degrees with 68% humidity. We should cross into the Northern Hemisphere sometime tomorrow. One more “last”!

We forget we have an extra Prime 7 reservation tonight for a table of 4, actually thinking they are later on so we have not asked anyone yet. After a couple of attempts we decide they can either seat us as just two, add a drop in couple to our table or turn us away, but we aren’t spending anymore time on finding another couple.

Reading, working on pictures and the blog take up our afternoon. Carolyn does go to the White Elephant auction just to see what the items go for. The biggie is a Grand Suite for the rest of this cruise (21 days). Our Aussie friends buy it for $10,000! Jamie wants to make $21,000 for the crew fund, He probably comes close.

We go to the “Where Are You from Party” at 6. There are only 10 from Texas on this leg. We meet in the Navigator lounge. There are more passengers from “other countries” - 77
than before. Plus there are 26 from GB, 23 from Canada, 26 from Australia and the US has 177. We sit down by another WC couple who lived in Texas but live in Georgia now and get to talking. Dick asks them if they have dinner plans and if not would they like to join us in Prime 7. They say yes! Another former Texan joins our group and we have a fun time talking about Texas.

We then adjourn  to Prime 7 and have a delightful dinner. Our dinner party breaks up about 8:45 and we go listen to the last of Clive’s set before turning in. Unfortunately the room temperature has climbed back up this evening. We will see what happens over night, Carolyn may have to talk to the GM again.

Our stewardesses have started playing with the "boys".  We caught them playing with the iPhone today!
