Tuesday, Day 101 -  Apr 17 - 8am to 5pm, Tender, Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, Tristan da Cunha Island  - NOT - A Sea Day miles north of the Island due to avoiding a Gale.

Edinburgh of the Seven Seas is a small British settlement located on a remote island, literally in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. With only 300 inhabitants and 1,500 miles of ocean from its nearest neighbor, this island offers rich history and an abundance of native wildlife that is truly unique. It would have been fun to have walked around a bit on this terribly remote outpost, it wasn’t meant to be!

Last night ranks right up there with the roughest we have had. The ship complained loudly all night...only the second time we have had all the structural noise and we had the figure eight motion most of the night.
The ship is quiet this morning, not many people out. It is cool, about 68 degree, and raining. We do our usual routine with Dick going to Terry’s lecture, “History of the Atlantic - Who Did What, Where and When." Carolyn goes to cards .

The theme for today’s sailing is Up. Up, Down, Down, Bang! Repeat! Like riding a roller coaster with a bad track.

At noon the Captain tells us we have 15' swells with three foot waves on top and gale force winds. He has shut down two elevators and please to be careful and hold onto the ship if you are moving around. This movement will continue today, but should improve tomorrow.
We go to Compass Rose about 1:15PM for a bowl of soup. Dick has navy bean and Carolyn has the French onion, We both have rum raisin ice cream for dessert. The kitchen does make the best soups and ice cream!
The afternoon is quiet with Dick playing on the computer and going to the second part of the movie "Waterloo." Carolyn goes to cards and then reads. She is on the last of the J D Robb books that her daughter-in-law gave her. They have been really good reads! She then works on pictures and the blog until dinnertime.

At 6:30PM we join up in the navigator bar and go to dinner in the Compass Rose. Carolyn had some snacks with her drink while she waited for Dick so she is not too hungry and has a hearts of celery salad and cold boiled shrimp. Dick has escargot and lamb chops. We both have a grand marnier souffle for dessert.

Dick goes on to bed, but Carolyn goes back to the Navigator Lounge to listen to Clive then goes to Terry’s program , “Tales of a Troubadour” at 9:30PM. By this time the seas are really pitching and rolling so it is time to get anchored in bed!
