Saturday, Day 105 -  Apr 21 - Cruising the Atlantic Ocean

Another uncomfortable night, guess Carolyn will have to try an intervention one more time. We do not look forward to another month plus sleeping in a too warm room.

It is a grey, overcast day, but the seas are calm with a cool temperature...not the best if you are a sun worshiper. This is the ninth sea day, just one more! There seem to be a lot of Brits on this segment. They seem to like to be out in the sun, no matter how hot and humid it is.
We do our usual activities...hummm sounds just like home minus doing the laundry, cleaning and cooking. So it is a good day!!!  Terry is speaking on “St George’s Day - An Almost complete History of Royalty in the United Kingdom." It is also the Queen’s 92nd birthday and Barbara Bush’s Funeral. The Brits are singing Happy Birthday and the American’s are watching the Funeral. Dick says Terry’s talk is good with interesting comments about the note-worthy royals. Carolyn goes to her Quilling class and starts on a really cute card with colorful fish.

About 11:15AM the Captain comes on the PA system to tell us we are about 200 miles from Montevideo and after some discussion with the Home Office and the Port Authorities we will be in Montevideo tomorrow and do an overnight. He is not sure of the timing of our arrival, it all depends on a tanker ship that is scheduled to leave by 10AM tomorrow. He will let us know about the timing; meanwhile they will get some tours organized. You can almost hear 360 people cheer! There is lots of cabin fever!

The mood of the ship changes instantly. By the time Dick and Carolyn go to lunch for a bowl of cream of chicken soup, everyone is all bubbly, talking about tomorrow and how nice to have an overnight. Carolyn already has booked a tour to see tango dancing.

Carolyn goes to cards with Julie where we make another layered card using a map of South America. Dick reads and works on the computer. Sometime in the afternoon the Captain announces that we should be along side the dock by 10AM tomorrow and the tours will start after noon, check the Passages for times.

At 5:30PM Dick goes to listen to a pre-dinner program by a harpist with the intention of meeting Carolyn in the Navigator Lounge for Clive's program. He is playing a set from 6PM to 6:45PM.

When Carolyn gets to the Lounge about 5:50PM, Dick already has a drink and two seats. He says he didn’t like the music as it was too clanky (almost strident), not at all relaxing and smooth. Passages had the time wrong and Clive plays from 6:30PM to 7:15PM. We enjoy his entertaining style and stay for the whole set. Then we go to Sette Mari for some Italian. It is crowded tonight for the first time in a long time, so we can’t sit in Gaia's section. But the food is still good and we enjoy the meal. Leaving ,we run into our Australian friends coming out of Prime 7. They are celebrating Phil’s birthday. We visit for a while and set up a dinner date for the 25th.

Back in the room Dick turns in and Carolyn works on getting the blog up to date. We are three days behind! The internet is acting up and it is taking forever to post so after two days worth, she calls it quits!

About 1AM the PA comes on in the room with a CODE BRAVO alert calling crew to respond to Deck 7, just above us. This wakes us up big time....Code Bravo is a fire alarm! In a few minutes the Captain comes on to tell the crew to stand down and explains that it turned out to be smoking wiring in the dishwasher controls in the service pantry on Deck 7.  Thank goodness. We roll over and go back to sleep.
