Saturday, Day 84 -  Mar 31 - Cruising the Indian Ocean

It is another sea and we are enjoying our usual routine. Dick has two lectures in the morning: Terry’s, “The Death of a Nation - the Zulu Wars, Part I,” which he really enjoys and Don Walsh’s. “ Water Water Everywhere and Not a Drop to Drink - The Global Water Crisis,” which doesn’t grab his interest. He goes to the Pool Deck for the Sushi and Sashimi Lunch Buffet, but eats in the cool of the La Veranda area.

Carolyn works on the blog for awhile. She has gotten really behind. Then she goes to cards where Sarah gets us started on a new card. Sarah got a new size of paper strips in Singapore. They are 1/4 inch instead of the 3/8 inch we have been using and are much more difficult to curl, though they do make a nicer looking card. For lunch Carolyn goes to the dining room for some loaded potato soup. It is probably her favorite of the soups.

It is a sunny day with some breeze but the ship is moving around. At noon the Captain gives his update, 5' swells increasing to 8' later in the day. The ocean is around 10,000 feet deep.

The afternoon goes by quickly, Dick plays his computer game and goes to the afternoon lecture by Michael Scott on “Richard’s Bay and the Rainbow Nation.” It is a talk on the up coming ports.

Carolyn works on her Easter Bonnet, making a few more flowers and adding to the design as she goes. The big headache is trying to attach the paper and ribbon flowers to the hat! So far two attempts haven’t worked so she is now sewing the flowers on.

There is also another writer’s workshop by Dana and a wine tasting event in the dinning room, but we pass in favor of our own entertainment.

About 6:30PM we decide to go to the Galileo Lounge for cocktails. We join our Australian friends and talk until after 8PM. They aren’t hungry but we are so we go to Sette Mari for a very light dinner.  Then we adjourn to the suite and slumber time. The ship is rocking around good sleeping ahead!
