Another pretty, calm seaday. These are mighty welcome days after rocking and rolling across the Pacific and Great Southern Oceans. The Captain tells us we are at 11 degrees S and 118 degrees E. The temperature is 85 degrees, wind is 15 knots and the seas are 5 feet or small waves. The ocean floor is 15,000 feet below us.
Carolyn almost didn’t make breakfast this morning, but they had crepes so she is glad she did. From there we do our routine. Dick goes to Bishop’s talk on “Australia’s Own Pearl Harbor - The Bombing of Darwin.” He also goes to the pastry chefs crepe demonstration and makes a chocolate and banana crepe. Yummmm. Carolyn continues lessons with Sarah on Quilling and finally gets caught up!
Lunch is a very tasty smoked salmon salad with dill mayo on a soft white roll. Love the new lunch menu additions. Good job listening to guest request Regent!
Dick discovers the writers workshop this afternoon. The Assistant Cruise Director, Dana, talks about “Judging Characters by Their Appearance” for tools and inspiration in building characters in your story. There is a talk on “Queen Nefertiti - The Eternal Mystery” but it doesn’t appeal to Dick so he plays his computer games. Carolyn goes to Julie’s workshop on tea bag folding. We learn to make an origami rose for a greeting card. It turns out very nice and is easy to do.
There is a pre-dinner classical piano concert, “Chopin The Etudes,” followed by dinner in Compass Rose of a nice mixed salad, mushroom and goat cheese tart and prime rib finished off with some rum raisin ice cream for both of us. We almost finish off a bottle of Cline zinfandel.
