Saturday, Day 49 - Feb 24 - Turning the Corner and Entering the Indian Ocean

The seas bounced us around all night and stayed rough through the morning as we sailed along the southern coast of Australia in the Great Southern Ocean. We can see land most of the morning. Seas are in the 10-12 foot range with up to Gala Force winds.
In 2009, we drove along this coast spending time at both Albany and Yallingup. It is a mix of beautiful seascapes and forest highway. The coast has white sands and blue water much like the coast at Esperance.

We follow our usual morning routine. There are two lectures that Dick attends: Bishop’s “Australia and New Zealand Go to War: The Anzacs at Gallipoli,1915" and Losey’s “Perceptions - Stories About Our Surroundings.”

Carolyn goes to Quilling where she learns how to make ducks; as in cute little yellow duckies. Then she goes to lunch and has a bowl of pumpkin soup. Back in the suite, she planned to read, but fell asleep on the third page. In fact they have an early Showtime tonight, “World Beat” and we miss that because someone slept through it!

We go to dinner which isn’t really good. Probably the first meal we have ordered that the only redeeming thing was the ice cream.

Tomorrow is change over day in Fremantle.
