Tomorrow is the Big Day

January 5th....the dreaded last day at home!

I say that because we always wind up finishing the packing at the last minute and there is always a problem! We shipped three bags back on December 15th. Could have shipped four, but I was unsure of what non-clothing items might cause a problem and we needed some things to get us through our Christmas/New Year trip so I played it safe.

We have a great Christmas and New Year with all the family in Taos, New Mexico.
Unfortunately it snowed the day we got to Santa Fe, but it didn’t snow again. It is very mild for the New Mexico mountains at this time of year. But, with clear, cool days, we have spectacular sunsets almost every night!
Some of the Taos ski runs are open and the grand kids spend two days skiing. It wasn’t ideal conditions, but they have fun. And, of course, Christmas morning is always exciting when we are all together.
Fast forward to this afternoon when I get everything in the bags we are taking - two carry-on bags and one large checked bag which Dick then weighs. We are flying first class so have a 70 pound allowance per bag. Well the bag to check weighs in at 75 pounds....crap!!!

We rummage around and find a small duffel bag into which I transfer some of the bulky stuff. That problem solved, I move on to the carry-on bags and double check for liquids in the toiletries Dick has added. Finding a small pile of sample bottles, I add these to the zip lock plastic bag for the security check and close everything up again. We are ready with two roll-aboards, a large bag and a small duffel to check plus our computer and camera bag.

Tomorrow is the big day. We head to Los Angeles!
