Sat, Day 1 -  Jan 6 - Fly Houston to Los Angles

We wake to a nice day...great for flying. Our flight is at 2:30PM from IAH. Downside is we will spend the whole day traveling, but we don’t have to rush to get to the airport. A few minutes to load the car and get the house locked up and we are heading to our daughter’s house by 10AM.. She is going to drive us to the airport and keep the car for us.
It is about an hour to her home on the north side of Houston. We pick up our daughter and say good-bye to our three grandchildren. One is going to track us as we travel using daily noon GPS readings as long as Papaw remembers to do them. The results should be interesting.  From there it is another 40 minutes to IAH.

Check-in goes smoothly. The only hitch is we can’t access the lounge, it is no longer automatic with a First class ticket and there is a problem with our United card.
we need to look into that later. We are in the air almost on-time and arrive at LAX on time at 4:30PM. Carolyn arranged for meet and greet with Execucar. The driver is waiting for us at baggage claim and we are soon on our way to the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills; about 45 minutes away.

It is dark by the time we arrive at the Hotel at 6PM. The hotel is beautiful, a classic grand dame! Much to our pleasure we are upgraded to a a very nice junior suite in the original part of the hotel . By now it is almost 8:30PM our time and we are tired and hungry.  A couple of drinks and some bar food sound good so we try the CUT Lounge. It more than fills the bill. Five drinks between us, some fried onion rings, delicious breads and a two plates of mini steak kebabs with a great sauce and we ready to call it a night. The decor and service at the hotel are great, but it comes at a cost. Our dinner is $156!!

The bed is like a cloud and we are soon dead to the world.
